Four Days Marches Nijmegen 2024: Via Gladiola scorched by heat
Thursday, July 18, 2024, the third day of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches. The weather forecasts for tomorrow, the final day of the world's largest walking event, are unfavorable. With high temperatures expected, the organization has decided to take action. The festive parade on Via Gladiola coincides with the hottest part of the day. The board of the Four Days Marches Foundation has taken several measures, one of which is to shorten the routes. All three distances will be reduced by 10 kilometers, and the military participants are exempt from the requirement to carry their packs:
- The 50km participants will walk the 40km route
- The 40km participants will walk the 30km route
- The 30km participants will walk the 20km route
- Military participants are exempt from carrying their packs, but the distance remains the same

Thursday, July 18, 2024, the news reaches pewter foundry De Tinnen Roos. Following the Three Days pin from 2022, the brains are working overtime once again. A new pin is quickly designed, printed, and cast. The badge symbolizes the shortening of the distances on July 19, 2024. The melting distances build upon the melting number 4 from the Three Days pin, which was affectionately known as the "Melt pin." The central gladiolus refers to the special moment of the Via Gladiola. With this pin, we aim to create a special memento for yet another extraordinary Nijmegen Four Days Marches.
